Cycling Adventure from Rotterdam to Romania: Day Five – From Fackelsteinberg to Mönchengladbach

Introduction:
On the fifth day of our epic cycling journey from Rotterdam to Romania, we continued our exploration of Germany. From our starting point near Fackelsteinberg, we pedaled our way through quiet towns, enjoyed the serene German countryside, took advantage of the bountiful blackberry patches, made a pit stop at Subway to recharge our devices, and found a peaceful orchard to camp for the night.

Tranquil Ride Through Quiet Towns:
Our day began with a leisurely ride through charming, sleepy German towns. The streets were lined with quaint houses adorned with colorful flower boxes, and the pace of life seemed unhurried. It was a delightful change of scenery from the bustling city streets we had left behind in Rotterdam.

Picturesque German Countryside:
As we ventured further into the German countryside, we were treated to stunning vistas of rolling hills, lush fields, and meandering rivers. The beauty of the landscape was truly enchanting, and it served as a reminder of the diverse landscapes Europe had to offer.

Blackberry Picking Extravaganza:
One of the unexpected joys of the day was the abundance of blackberry bushes along our route. We couldn’t resist stopping to indulge in some impromptu blackberry picking. The sweet and tangy berries provided a refreshing snack and a burst of energy for our journey.

Recharging at Subway:
With our devices running low on battery, we decided to take a long stop at a Subway restaurant. While we recharged our devices, we enjoyed a hearty meal to refuel ourselves. It was a perfect opportunity to relax, plan our route, and reflect on the experiences of the trip so far.

Camping in an Orchard:
As evening approached, we sought a tranquil spot to set up camp. Serendipitously, we stumbled upon a picturesque orchard with fruit-laden trees. The fragrant blossoms and the quiet surroundings made it an ideal place to pitch our tents for the night. It was a peaceful conclusion to a day filled with discoveries and the simple pleasures of the road.

Conclusion:
Day five of our cycling adventure took us through the serene German countryside, offering a peaceful contrast to the previous days of cycling. The chance to pick fresh blackberries, recharge our devices, and camp in an orchard added unique touches to our journey. As we settled in for the night near Mönchengladbach, we couldn’t help but feel grateful for the experiences and the beauty of the world we were discovering one pedal stroke at a time.
