Cycling in Northern Thailand: Day 8 – A RollercoasteršŸŽ¢ Ride into Pai

After an early start with our wild camping spot ā›ŗ being a few meters from the road we were quickly back enroute towards Pai.

The riding started with a steep climb but before long we were flying down the other side of the hills, weaving around sharp bends and taking in the breathtaking beauty of the Pai district in front of us. Feeling the wind in your face as you fly down some huge acents is an exhilarating feeling, and the winding roads just add to that feeling as everything seems to just open up around each bend.

Once the descent was over we reached an old bus that’s become a monument with a welcome to Pai sign. A kilometer from the bus is a restaurant which was a great spot for breakfast. Another kilometer towards Pai centre is the Pai memorial Bridge which we walked across, and got a few pictures, it’s a nice bridge with historical importance. The bridge was built by the Japanese in WW2 to create a route towards Burma. After another kilometer we reached the Pai Canyon which was a really fun little stop.

The Pai Canyon is a great place to explore, it involves a bit of climbing and scrambling about but the views and challenging climbs are worth it. It is a natural wonder that leaves visitors in awe. As I ventured through the narrow dirt trails that wind their way through the canyon, I couldn’t help but marvel at the dramatic landscapes that unfolded before my eyes. The sheer cliffs, rugged rock formations, and deep ravines created a breathtaking panorama that seemed almost otherworldly. With each step, I felt a sense of adventure and anticipation, eagerly exploring the various viewpoints and soaking in the stunning vistas. The Pai Canyon truly is a hidden gem, offering an unforgettable experience for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.

After Exploring the Canyon we continued along the route to the center of Pai for another 8 km, after checking in to a hotelšŸØ it was time to shower, get some laundry done, grab some lunch and have a swim. šŸ˜ƒ

A perfect end to the Incredible Journey to Pai, a short day of cycling with a nice mix of activities and creature comforts.
